01 What we fix

Most of what goes wrong with a car, we can do at the roadside or in your compound.

We carry the common parts in the van — batteries, belts, brake pads, plugs, coolant, fuses, a trolley jack and stands. If a job needs the workshop lift, we tell you on the phone before we set off, and we tow or drive it in ourselves.

03 About

Started with one toolbox and a borrowed phone.

Sambou Apple Mobile Shop began on the Coastal Road in Old Yundum, working out of a small shop with a hand-painted sign and a phone that rang at all hours. The name stuck from those early days — the shop sold phone parts and accessories out front, and Sambou fixed cars out back. The phone counter is gone now. The cars never stopped coming.

What changed is the van. For years, every job meant the car had to be brought to us, which meant a tow, which meant money and a day lost. Now the tools travel. Batteries, brake pads, belts, plugs, a jack, stands, a scanner and a torch live in the back, and most jobs that used to need a tow are done where the car is parked.

We are not the cheapest quote you will get on the Coastal Road, and we don't pretend to be. What we are is honest about what's wrong. If a noise is a loose heat shield and not a gearbox, we say so. If a repair isn't worth doing on a car that age, we say that too — and we'd rather lose the job than take money for work the car doesn't need.

Most of our customers come from a neighbour telling them to call. That is the only advertising we have ever really had, and it is the reason we answer the phone at nine at night.
